“A declaration of love of the Soca river and the story of saving a species”
In Slovenia in central Europe, in the core-zone of the raw and mostly untouched nature of the Triglav National Parc, is the source of the famous Soca river. After only 140 kilometers it flows into the Adriatic sea in Italy, where its name is Isonzo. Its tourquoise-colored waters and tributaries are the home of a very special trout species, the marble trout (Mammorata), which was threatened by extinction because of hybridisation and survived thanks to extensive work of researchers, fish farmers and angling associations.
